Logos, logos, logos
hello fall, hi friends, how’s it going? No, I am not announcing my new gig as the latest home shopping TV host with my GOD monogram bed and bath collection…the towels are just a logo folly of mine. |
What is really NEW is ALL this fruiting and seeding this time of year, it gets me so high! You too?
To celebrate all …, I am back today with agency news + inspiring creative, this edition is all about the keys to the Universe: logos, logos, logos!
What’s the seasonal connect? Plants and logos both hold the seeds of their creation as a coded message.
From tiny white raspberries found at the farmer’s market to the waving roadside blue purple chicory (closed by noon, thank you!) at the forest’s edge, or to the soft translucent seeds of steamed yellow and green squash…this endless cycle of creativity on display…I’m drinking it all in.
In my world of creative branding, a logo is like a seed for a brand bursting with new ideas. It literally holds the dreams of a founder, a company and the tribe that buys into it. Deeper still, I connect brand logos with the definition of the seed word, Logos: “the word of God or the eternal and unchanging truth present from the time of creation, available to every individual who seeks it.”
Whoa, that’s BIG! When my agency designs a logo, we follow a desire to bring forth the love, the essence of a personality or a brand in its simplest most engaging form. It should grab attention and slowly reveal its messages. Like the wrapture of God’s very own towel after a shower;-)
Have a look this month at 9 logos we’ve designed through the lens of our berry tasty seasonal newsletter theme ~ THE JUICY FRUIT, THE NEW SEED, and THE ABUNDANT HARVEST ~ to share inspired logos, culture tips and the stories behind some super fruity ecstatic logo design experiences with you.
#1 Oh! Yes! Our Own Agency Logo
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Everyone asks us about our logo.
THE NEW SEEDS.
What is it? What was the inspiration?
Literally seeing a “3” sideways led to the aha moment. The 3rd volume of BUDDHA by anime master Osamu Tezuka had a large number “3” on it, and when seen on my bookshelf sideways, well, ENLIGHTENMENT! There it was plain as day for me to see things DIFFERENTLY.
The logo captures and symbolizes what I believe in, that the ever-present third option beyond duality, beyond the usual and that search for true inspiration. Balance and creative morphing, thrilling and head turning all at once.
Sure, if you see a winged bird, two magnets or a white, comical animal head in a heart shape, yes…go with it!
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
Talk about fresh vision, brilliantly turning one medium into another, like Walt Disney, the master of Anime, Father of Manga, Osamu Teszuka turned children’s cartoons into high art. See more here.
Yes, he invented both Astro Boy and Kimba The White Lion if you are a child of the 70’s like me.
If you want to know what else we animate, see our new Brand Book with beaucoup of our creative services.
#2 Evotion Media Floats a New Logo
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Admiring the power of our agency symbol, film producer, Kim Jackson came to us for a major logo for her new venture, Evotion, where storytelling meets the evolution of emotion. With a request for a tight turn around we dove into those emo waters!
THE NEW SEEDS.
Thus the “e” met a watery feel with bubbles and movement, something that clearly evoked transformation in an alchemical way. Thus also the gold. Moving transformation through phenomenal film reels (or Klimt’s nouveau tableaus ) for a shift to our reality.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
Learn more about Kim Jackson and her most recent film, a New York Times Critic’s Pick, “Down with The King” about a rapper (played by Freddie Gibbs) who settles in the wilderness for inspiration. More here.
#3 The Logo at Legendary DJ Kool Herc’s Fingertips, at the Birth of Hip Hop, Gets a Makeover
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Gemini turntables were the seed from which the fruit of hip-hop emerged, famously manned by the originator DJ Kool Herc at summer block parties in the Bronx in the 70’s.
THE NEW SEEDS.
By the time I arrived in the year 2000 as the new corporate Marketing Director over seeing creative at Gemini, the DJ equipment company was international and their 1970’s logo needed a serious refresh. Music originated with turntables was huge and huge. Honoring the logo’s origins we decided to solidify the font, previously striped, to underscore its icon status and adding its own turntable. The final design by our art director, Alvaro Montagna.
By 2000 the image of a turntable was well known and the forward-looking, energetic “G” above the solid Gemini made the logo contemporary and visionary.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
Learn more about Kool Herc, here.
And in a recent surprise, in today’s version of digging in the crates, I unearthed the 2013 Netflix documentary, “Sample This”, the story of “the greatest breakbeat of all time,” according to Questlove of The Roots. The flick chronicles the recording of what became the heartbeat of rap…tribal drum beats, which traveled to transformation by the hip-hop innovators in the South Bronx.
“Pioneering DJ Kool Herc put both “Bongo Rock” and “Apache” to good use, switching back and forth between two copies, extending the drum break indefinitely and driving the crowd wild at block parties and apartment building rec rooms. “That was the pinnacle of the party,” says hip hop artist Grandmaster Caz. “When Apache came on, your hat went on backwards and you got it in.”
#4 Take Time to Smell the Flowers
THE JUICY FRUIT.
All hail flowers and the feels. Can you hear Neil Young wail right about now?
This logo invites a gentle, nostalgic botanical connect.
Like the miracle of all flowers, it asks us to slow down, smell the roses and savor the details.
THE NEW SEEDS.
This Au Natural logo was drawn (by me!) in woodcut style which became the actual carved wood shop sign of Hawk + Floret, a shop of curiosities, antiques, hand-made beauties and an awe of nature in the tiny river town (where I have lived and loved) of Frenchtown, New Jersey.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST. This year, USA Today named Frenchtown, The Best Small Town for Shopping. Seek out “Betty’s store,” owned by my friend, Betty-Bains Saum, officially known as Hawk + Floret is at 40 Bridge Street in Frenchtown and @hawkfloret on IG.
Another Frenchtown resident, the botanically-oriented author-mother of “Eat, Pray, Love,” Elizabeth Gilbert gives a must-see interview on creativity, chatting here with Marie Forleo.
#5 An Oasis in the Desert, Rich with Making Brands Magical
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Let’s jet now across the US. Our brand and graphic designers hail from The Land of Enchantment, New Mexico, which is now also The Land of Space Exploration and so of course two of their many great logos are full of that energetic magic.
THE NEW SEEDS.
A sense of place and dynamic, fun action is the message of the Taos Scooters‘ logo. A photo of a Vespa inspired a translation to the wood block style that adds on the charm. The Zia Pueblo sun symbol establishes a sense of place and the rays help emphasize the adventure of the scooter whoosh!
The Digerati Design logo updates the visual language of early tech design and conveys the speed of light that drives our digital desires. “The starry pixel dust (magic) emulates particles of digital energy flow,” says Barbara, the graphic artist from inside her sagebrush-surrounded, round Navajo hogan-style home she built with her husband, Ron Davis, the notable 60’s abstract painter. Peek for more, here.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
Thankfully the abstract made earthy is not just specific to bohemian enclaves like New Mexico! The magic is in the visual connect and emotional communication. Learn more about the musical Taos magic of Carol, the other half of Digerati Design, together known as the Pixel Gals, here.
#6 How To Catch a Bigger Fish
THE JUICY FRUIT.
As Marketing and Creative Director for Blue Fish, a pioneer in organic cotton clothing and a uniquely hand-block printed collection with 400 wholesale accounts and five retail stores, I art directed everything from catalogs, ads, stores, prints and, products from gifts to clothing and retail stores.
And yet, the logo was always block printed, not sleek!
However, by the time the collection was sold to Nordstrom, it was time to up-level the logo.
THE NEW SEEDS.
We kept the seed design feeling of being “curiously hand-rendered” and added a bit of polish which worked on everything from clothing labels to retail store signs.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
What was once a seed, a creative folly begun in a garage in the 90’s, became an earthy community to rival anything Portland did. Did early use of organic cotton save some nature for the good of the world? We hope!
Thus our harvest gift for you is an interview with two of our fave slow fashion and design seekers, Céline Semaan of Slow Factory, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing climate justice and social equity. She invented the term fashion activism! Listen to her interview by Spencer Bailey of “The Slow Down” podcast, here.
#7 Slow Luxury Means A Slow + Delicious Discovery
THE JUICY FRUIT.
We will dream, sketch, and even hand-sew in the creative process to elicit a logo design that sings!
THE NEW SEED.
My journey with my own brand, Slow Luxury, a collaborative design platform, is a case in point. While we originally set up Slow Luxury as consultants and advocates for sustainable Slow Luxury practices in the industry and with clients, I realized that the most inspiring version of Slow Luxury is REALLY all about a slow deep dive into the luxury of OURSELVES. As we create non-toxic, sustainable lives of beauty, we heal ourselves and the planet at the same time.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
In any situation, if we see humor, honoring and acts of kindness vs. panic, fear, disconnect, or depression, well then these small acts of kindness to self and others…these are the real “luxuries” available to all.
Slow Luxury? Here.
The logo? Still slowly pondering!
#8 Celebrity Stilettos Meet Some Hot Sneaker Love
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Who among us is not obsessed with shoes? We invented the event and the logo for a celebrity shoe auction to benefit City Harvest, a vibrant org. feeding hungry New Yorkers each season. Our client was The Bubbly, a blog on the best champagne and other luxury pursuits in Tribeca.
THE NEW SEEDS.
Hosted by red carpet shoe expert Miss Meghan and attended by Olympians, industry heads and shoe lovers came to bid on signed collectibles from Reese Witherspoon; Carson Kressley; Star Jones; Amanda Beard; Swizz Beatz; Russell Simmons; P.Diddy and originals from Jimmy Choo and Gucci. New York magazine covered.
THE ABUNDANT HARVEST.
The logo illustrated the bubbly of the Bubbly plus the stilettos and sneakers …and most importantly fed the hungry.
And now, years later, after the pandemic, shoes are suspect! We love Earthing … going barefoot on dark loamy forest soils, sandy beaches, even my wood floors connect me to stress-less, a good night’s sleep and more vitality. Now that’s bubbly!
#9 Wellness Design for Bodies, Brands and Public Spaces
THE JUICY FRUIT.
Is it a quote balloon, comma, a playful face, a number 9 or an “aha” epiphany?
This logo is all that and a way to convey the 9 Star Passport, my wholly original system of discovery that aligns the energy and flow of our body chakras with our PRIVATE or PUBLIC spaces, and even to BRANDS. It maps the way to design and live more creatively in our bodies, our spaces, and our WORLD.
Yes it’s a bit Feng Shui 9.0, gone all multi-dimensional!
The three applications of the 9 Star Passport have their own logo expressions!
THE NEW SEEDS. This system, a GPS for life is a design sync, a map of our Bodies, our Spaces, our World. To visually convey and distinguish its applications, we designed symbols to act as navigational offerings on the site. THE ABUNDANT HARVEST. By now, you must be feeling inspired … I love to indulge my follies for deep healing and creativity and share the bounty with you! |

hello summer half-way done, hi friends, how’s it going?
In the name of the silly meme, HOW IT STARTED…HOW IT’S GOING, here’s a read of summer fun through the years, plus a sharing of 9 current creative projects at the agency to inspire you to get going towards your dreams.
Via a “newsletter with a concept” have a peek at our creative teams’ latest BRAND MAGIC.
HOW IT STARTED.
That’s my Mama beside me, above, seaside.
When asked HOW IT’S GOING? “Magically! And ready to climb,” said me, the future mama to a creative agency, with glee while reaching towards NYC from a beach club in Deal. My ‘deal’ became…
A TINY, QUICK ADVERTISEMENT IF YA DON’T KNOW.
We are a full-service agency with clients in North and South America and Europe. With over 30 years of serving up creative for pop-culture and luxury lifestyle clients, we love to consistently create meaning, story and creative together with clients that connects and energizes.
Clients tell us how they love the new, vaster perspectives we see for them whether we work together via our hourly consults or full-scale brand productions.
OK, NOW BACK TO THE MEME FUN.
Have a glimpse of 9 Summer Delights, the work of our teams via 9 of our latest client relationships, projects and even a new venture in healing design.
#1 From Your Heart To Help the World’s Breadbasket.
HOW IT STARTED.
My great grandparents came to the US from Romania, Russia and Austria with open, hopeful hearts on their folksy, flowery sleeves. One summer, feeling them strongly, I teared up at the Ellis Island museum, coming upon an immigrant embroidered peasant blouse on display.
HOW IT’S GOING.
These days, the next generation moves me to tears. I’m so wow’d by my niece (above, speaking at a Stevens Institute of Technology peace rally in flowery blouse) and her Ukraine-born husband’s raising of over 100K for Ukrainian refugees! See the Inc. magazine story on them both and my niece’s story.
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
If you wish to donate to Friends of Chevonohrad, it would be so helpful and generous. Thank you!
#2 Strike a Pose. From Head-Turning Bathing Beauty Poses To A Tuned-In Healing Boat Pose
HOW IT STARTED.
Move over Twiggy! In the 1960’s my sister and I struck our model poses as bathing suit beauties to advertise our family’s clothing store. Since then, striking poses in my first yoga classes at 16 began my passion for “alternative health” and led to my lifelong studies with world-renown mistresses and masters of yoga, Feng Shui, and meditation.
HOW IT’S GOING.
Today we channel focused insight and creativity to grow the social media for several wellness clients, including Jess Cording, MS, RD, a dietitian, health coach and author whose expertise is total wellness, nutrition, and self-care. And yes, she is the woman above striking boat pose next to the fluffy dog and chakra tuning bowls.
We’re not posing…we’ve blissfully doubled some of her key social media metrics in a short time. Follow her on Instagram here.
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
Need to strike a new pose for your branding and social media? Building a new wellness brand and need help with content curation and production? We can help! See our wellness work here.
#3 From the “Thing Sling!” to New Smart Fabrics Branding
HOW IT STARTED. No banana hammocks here, I’m talking about our PR role for the global launch of Speedo’s Olympic-winning, record-breaking Fastskin full-bodysuits in NYC, with famed Olympian Michael Phelps and teammates, as seen above in our Vanity Fair placement. HOW IT’S GOING. Incredibly, on a first call with Dan Short, the inventor of IONX, an ionized performance and prevention fiber, the start-up founder told me how he was the lead developer on Speedo’s Fastskin and admired the PR campaign… Wow. Hello. What a coincidence, I was the PR for that! Today, we are on Team IONX-World, consulting and conceptualizing the branding, marketing and PR. HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER. Got Olympic-sized branding or PR desires? We can make you a winner, speedo! See more of our work here. #4 From Ciao Bella to Ciao Biz. |
HOW IT STARTED.
Backpacking across Europe one summer in the 80’s, my sister and I met quite a lot of bright smiling Italian boys in bright espadrilles and had lots of silly adventures. Who knew…(um, I actually did know deep in my soul) that celebrating my love for European culture would always be a core expression for me?
HOW IT’S GOING.
Today, my agency enjoys relationships with creative friends and business associates in Rome, Milan and Paris and beyond. Seen above is my illustration from behind my hat head while sharing a circular table at Crosby Street Hotel with our bright, creative and expressive Italian biz friends who were in NYC recently.
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
If you have biz in Europe, talk to us!
Need original illustration or animation? We work with top talents. See my own illustration style on my Instagram here.
#5 From Lago di Como to C’mon Let’s Go Luxe.
HOW IT STARTED.
My lust for the thrills and grandeur of Europe actually began with my first trip to London age 16, 1976, with the punk street scene in full regalia before my wide, thrilled eyes. Many trips later, thrills came in a press trip where I brought US editors to CastaDiva, for the opening of Lake Como’s first new luxury hotel in 100 years.
HOW IT’S GOING.
With travel restricted, the Pandemic was the perfect time to conceptualize, write and design the identity and sales brochure for our client, a Euro-based concierge club that offers custom, global, ultra-luxury and healing experiences from yacht-sunbathing to spaceship voyages. So exclusive, we can’t share the name!
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
Do you lust for full-scale Creative that travels and speaks to a global audience? Our luxury experiences range from work with mass brands like American Express to heritage brands like Bulgari and Dior and luxury design industry groups like Wien Products of Vienna and Textiles Scotland. Just a peek!
#6 From the Mouths of Babes To “I’ll Have What They’re Having!”
HOW IT STARTED.
Good parents will tell you little fabrications of the truth, that you are the best ever child, even while, frankly, you are screaming and messing up a perfectly good beach day as per photo of said child, me, above.
HOW IT’S GOING.
No illusion needed, beyond childish beach drama, we’ve actually made quite a few folks very happy over the years with our creativity and passion. Have what they had. See the talking heads and what they have to say here in testimonials.
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
You’re good. I’m good. Got a creative idea? Need a creative direction? Need a creative partner? I testify that we should connect!
#7 From the Jet Set to Tibetan Tête-à-Têtes.
HOW IT STARTED.
After spiritual masters, the lifestyles of the jet set have fascinated me since age 2, and in fact there’s an ecstatic photo of me surrounded by Vogue and Life magazines laid out around me like a beach blanket. Magazines = my toy. By my preteen years the bon mots of visionary editor, Diana Vreeland, crowned her my new lifestyle guru. (Here she is on her beach blanket, above, with husband and son, Freck.)
HOW IT’S GOING.
An intriguing cross between James Bond and Barack Obama, Diana’s son Freck is now a vibrant 95-years old with an equally fascinating life. He and his wife Sandra came to us to imagine and create his branding, book proposal and promotion of his memoir.
We created his Instagram account and zoomed it from zero to 12K in just months with posts on everything art, culture, Diana Vreeland, Cold War spies and the doings of a globe-trotting pal of people like Jackie O, Mick Jagger and Richard Branson. The apple does not fall far from the tree, in fact, Vogue editor Hamish Bowles coined “Vreelandese” for the “descriptions beyond” uttered by this family. (That’s Nicky, Freck’s son, with the Dalai Lama, the real guru.)
What an inspiring family! See Freck’s site here. Follow Freck on Instagram here. Memoir coming soon!
HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER.
Need bon mots for your social media? Desire to place your personality, brands, book or even a fabulous beach in media? Media is our toy! Let’s play together!
#8 From 70’s Summer Style To Eternal Magic.
HOW IT STARTED. I admit it. Ever fascinated by what makes an image or a person iconic, pre-teen in the 70’s, I too had the famed and best-selling-poster-ever of Farrah Fawcett plastered on my walls. Later, I went on to style everything from the runways of NY legendary designers, to a Paris Fashion Week video, ads for Nordstrom and the New York Times and, my favorite bedtime story, I even styled pajamas for Cher! HOW IT’S GOING. Style doesn’t copy, it references, enhances and supports the soul. Style tells a story or can support a good cause, in this case, a “How To Get The Farrah Hairstyle” video for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation. Ever resourceful, our own photographer, videographer, Ylva Erevall, fit the bill as Farrah, seen here in a video clip, with her fresh makeup by Oscar Caballero and her golden Farrah tresses by Marco Maranghello. HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER. Our eye for styling for photo and video is for “Luxury brands and Superstars.” Is that you? See some more of our styling work here. See our video work here. #9 From Healing Roots To Healing Interior Design. |
HOW IT STARTED. Among my Russian/Romanian clothing and lamp-making, retail pioneer and Viennese bakery ancestors, my immigrant great grandfather actually built the first apartments in Brooklyn that boasted their own bathrooms. A win for interior design, dignity and privacy. HOW IT’S GOING. In fact, the interior design industry is one of my favorites to work in given the creativity and its philanthropic actions that move culture forward. For example, one summer, I ran the PR for my interior designer and philanthropist client,Scott Sanders and his partner Peter Wilson as they hosted their 11th and final benefit at their Hamptons home for the nation’s oldest and largest LGBTQ youth service organization,Hentrick-Martins Institute. The generous and lively crowd of hundreds of guests included the likes of Kelly Rutherford and Andy Cohen.Read our blog for more here. HOW WE CAN DO ANYTHING WAY BETTER TOGETHER. These days, take a sneak peek at what inspired me during the Pandemic: a wallpaper and textile collection with some of my favorite artists designed for healing. This design, created with designer Maureen Flynn, has 12 sayings from around the world on roots, family and connecting to the Earth for spaces that need grounding and familial love. |
full circle friends. water’s lovely, let’s create together! |
ART. BOOKS. CULTURE. DESIGN. EXPERTS. FILM. FOOD. HOSPITALITY. INTERIOR DESIGN. LIFESTYLE. PERSONALITIES. STYLE. TRAVEL. WELLNESS.
RECENT CLIENT TESTIMONIALS.
“The brochure looks so incredible – a true work of art, xx.”
“This is coming together amazingly! I can’t wait to see the final art piece. You all are the best!!!”

hi friends, Happy holidays! As you may know, I’m a teeny, petite person. YOUR DESIRE #1 … MEDIA HELP!
YOUR DESIRE AND OUR GIFT. Lean into our 20+ years of PR magic such as we are delivering for our client, Freck Vreeland.
Don’t you love this illustration that ran with the article in Avenue magazine about the 94 years-young, Freck Vreeland, son of the iconic fashion visionary, Diana Vreeland?
EIC, Ben Widdicombe,(@avenueinsider) was captivated that Freck, the former Sr. US Diplomat; Cold War CIA agent; JFK, Jackie O and Mick Jagger pal; curious current world traveler and native New Yorker, had just began posting on Instagram. And that Freck has a memoir in the wings. Ben did his homework and had excellent questions for Freck (including a scandal). Freck gave bon mots on his career, his family and yes, his upcoming memoir.
“Love the illustration,” said Freck. “I’d like to think my mother would be amused. ‘Think Pink’ was her phrase after all.”
We are honored to be Team Vreeland, concepting, building and growing Freck’s Instagram, Twitter and the PR for his book.

YOUR DESIRE #4 … VIDEO HELP!
YOUR DESIRE.Illustrators Journal magazine came to us to help generate more subscriptions and advertisers.
Thus we concepted The ((( Well-Fed Artist ))) Campaign and video for them.
Filled with inspiring, informative in-depth interviews with creative mentors all over the world, The Illustrators Journal magazine publishes articles that focus on the steps to success, detailing each artist’s early life, inspirations, methods and advice via in-depth profiles not seen anywhere else.
We imagined The ((( Well-Fed Artist ))) Campaign offering free subscriptions for students at universities and major inner city schools that teach illustration, free ads for art schools as “seeding the influencers” hosted on a Patreon platform for supporters.
We envisioned the campaign based on the fact that even in this unprecedented global times with economic uncertainly, the old adage of “the starving artist” is over. The commercial art world is now a worldwide digital marketplace, where creative Instagrammers are discovered daily and NFT’s are giving artists control over new revenue streams. Yet, at the same time, the commercial art world is a serious business to navigate. Not everyone can navigate to make it to the top. Learning the business from the paths of successful creative mentors (Well-Fed Artists) has never been more important.
YOUR GIFT. ARE YOU WELL-FED WITH A NEW FRESH APPROACH TO MARKETING WITH VIDEOS? IF NOT, CALL US!
From hourly consult sessions to full-scope, intriguing campaigns … or to videos (see more of our videos here,) you’ll have more time to get well-fed yourself, go eat somewhere delicious and chill.
YOUR DESIRE #5 … ANIMATION HELP!
YOUR DESIRE. Mmmm wow! Here is a still from our upcoming opening animation for two videos in the works which feature an exciting triad: a major legendary star, Farrah Fawcett, an ultra-luxe beauty brand, Oribe, and celebrity hair stylist, Marco Maranghello, host of the video.
Our co-creatives on this project include photographer, videographer, Ylva Erevall; makeup artist, Oscar Caballero and styling by me. The Legendary Star role is played by one of us. I’ll let you guess who.
Our creative concept of angel wings turning into a “Mmmm wow” for a sonic meme of Marco’s initials could only be artistically realized by designer Maureen Flynn, @maureenflynndesigner, a creative pal since forever. The inspiration is the hidden ultra-violet colors of birds, bees and flowers that only appear at night. The exotic, sensual, pop-art mood is perfect to celebrate the passion of Marco’s personality at the helm of his brand.
Thank you to supporters of this video, Oribe luxury hair products and the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.
YOUR GIFT. ANIMATE + ELEVATE YOUR Mission. Purpose. Strategy and realize more CHILL TIME FOR YOU.
PING US + we will help you ANIMATE YOUR BRAND AND MAYBE EVEN YOUR LIFE!

YOUR DESIRE #7 … BRAND DIRECTION!
YOUR DESIRE. Is there such a thing as yoga for our home

“Why Don’t You…?” was the famous over-the-top expression of Diana Vreeland, the Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief who revolutionized the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. Diana was a style mentor to me all my life with her amusing, over-the-top “Why Don’t You…? quips like: “Why Don’t You… rinse your blond child’s hair in dead champagne to keep it gold, as they do in France?” “Why Don’t You…Have your bed made in China—the most beautiful bed imaginable, the headboard and spread of yellow satin embroidered in butterflies, alighting and flying, in every size and in exquisite colors?” “Why Don’t You… conduct your affairs primarily from the bath?” |
Random, cheeky and HYPERBOLIC, yes, but random, lush, funny, inviting and expansive vision is EXACTLY what gets our attention and drives intriguing stories,
the cornerstone of business and success.
As a brand strategy and creative services agency, we are passionate about following timeless proven patterns of growth and evolution to guide our work with personalities and lifestyle brands in art, culinary, fashion, film, health, home, luxury, media, pop-culture + travel.
In fact, we are thrilled to welcome our new client, Freck Vreeland, Diana’s son. This extraordinary man is a former US diplomat; close advisor to JFK; friend of Jackie O; CIA spy during the Cold War and an inspiring, globe-trotting bon vivant writing his well-anticipated memoirs. Strategy, site and social media for this stellar man is happening,
He’s now on Instagram,too.
in honor of Diana…

WHY DON’T YOU GO DIRTY + FUNNY WITH
THE RICH + FAMOUS?
DESIRE.
Every creator desires to connect to their next level of business in order to go bigger, richer or famous-er. The rule is that you must break the rules to get Mr. Big’s attention, and sometimes that means playing dirty. Let me explain…
SOLUTION. TELL A NEW STORY.
Confession, I’ve personally tested this theory. I was a jewelry designer, and the aim was to connect our earthy, goddess jewels to couture designers. Based on an actual dream, in order to make an impression for our first appointment with Bill Blass, we filled a suitcase with actual dirt to present and pull our jewels from.
KPI.
Bill Blass was a little shocked at first, then clearly amused. He said yes and commissioned our jewels and shawls for his runways which put us on the map. The runways of couture designers Oscar de la Renta and Mary McFadden were next. Bigger things, like international reps, media, and sales followed.
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE present YOU and your “precious jewels” like lotus flowers rising pristine from the mud, Grasshopper? Let’s create your “break the rules” ideas and strategies. Design and product development? We love those too…hit reply to this email to schedule and inspired call towards making an IMPACT.

WHY DON’T YOU DO EVERYTHING
AS IF YOU WERE IN PARIS?
DESIRE.
Are you twitchy to up-level and create massive, Eiffel-tower-sized, engaging content?
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
Our client, Paris personal shopper @whatimlovingnow, Susan Tabak, desired to share more of her styling adventures and to build her brand. We responded, “LET’S DO IT IN PARIS.”
KPI.
Our team launched Susan’s book with an event at the Louis Vuitton Soho NYC shop and created her style blog. But when we told her story in a video series that filmed dreamy and electric runways, parties, and places in the frenzy and fabulousness of Paris Fashion Week, this really launched her videos series and raised her profile.
“There was a time when Americans loved Paris!” boomed The Kaiser #karllagerfeld as our cameras rolled!
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE reel, story and video together? Paris is fab, and globally we’ve produced videos in places like mystic New Orleans to the misty Highlands of Scotland. We’ve produced expert interviews, cooking, fashion, health and music videos and even special lifestyle reports for ntv, the CNN of Europe.
Do you desire a video strategy? We can help you! Take a look at our agency Vimeo page featuring videos we’ve produced, styled or directed. From reels for Instagram to brand video series … let’s strategize your exciting video programming! RSVP to this email, Merci!

WHY DON’T YOU PLACE AN ENTICING DOORWAY
IN AN UNEXPECTED PLACE?
DESIRE.
Want the world to flock to your door? An unexpected opening creates engagement, notoriety and sales. How about flinging doorways across acres of Brazilian mountains?
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
Pioneering wireless resort owner, Emmanuel Rengade hired us for original ways to call attention to his newest resort, Fazenda Catucaba, on a former coffee plantation set on 1000’s of acres in São Luís do Paraitinga, Brazil. Sure we introduced him to media, but it was our visionary introduction to the artist Pasha Radetski to create land art that put the resort on the global map with media coverage from Architectural Digest France to Casa Vogue and Departures.
KPI.
Our curation of Radetski’s “Portal do Sul,“ placed doorways across thousands of acres for a vast landscape installation. This premiered the art residency program at Fazenda Catucaba, followed by projects by two of the most famous Brazilian designers, the Campana Brothers and homes by Marcio Kogan.
This visionary project made the Top 100 and the Top 8 in the Landscape category in the CODA Awards, an international competition for design projects that demonstrate the most successful integration of commissioned art. Plus, the installation was covered in the media by international trend platforms, Trendhunter.com and PSFK.com.
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE plant your groundbreaking vision AND open new doorways? We love to make business introductions and facilitate artist/brand collaborations! Reply to this email and let’s explore new exciting openings together.

WHY DON’T YOU INSTANTLY UPSTYLE EVERYTHING WITH ONE POTENT SYMBOL?
DESIRE.
“You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes,” said Diana Vreeland.
We say one symbol can make an icon.
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
In the “Breaking The Law” music video (over 400K views) starring David Rogue and directed by Andreas von Scheele, actress Liz Fye’s character was glamorous, dangerous and a master of disguise.
As stylist for the video, I created a big, blood-red satin rose necklace (enticing yet thorny) paired with traditional demure pearls. Campy movie star glam for hair and makeup along with the flowery dress added a humorous, polished energy for the tongue-in-cheek video, which also starred legendary producer, Ben Barenholtz, and actress, Rebecca Blumhagen.
KPI.
Let our 30+ years of style help you become somebody! Whether it’s our vision for personalities (like Olympic athletes, hip-hop moguls and TV experts) or style for ads in the New York Times to designing costumes, video sets and retail stores ~ we love the power of style. (Hey, we’ve even styled pajamas for Cher.)
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE venture a guess that you or your marketing is definitely missing is the power of an iconic, Operatic visual punch? WHY DON’T YOU LAUNCH YOUR STARTUP
LIKE A DIVA OF THE OPERA WOULD?
DESIRE.
How to make the world pay attention to YOU and YOURS?
Do it like an opera diva!
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
With a strategy fit for a diva, we launched Lake Como Italy’s first new 5-star luxury resort in 100 years, The Castadiva resort, now known as the Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como.
The resort is the re-imagined home of soprano diva Giuditta Pasta, the protégé and muse of the famed composer Bellini. The house was a meeting place for many artists, composers and singers in the 19th century and we were chosen by an Italian agency (now our project partner) to bring editors, writers and influencers to the 20th century, glamorous re-opening of the Diva’s home.
KPI.
Key guests at our media luncheon and media tour in Italy included editors from Vanity Fair; Conde Nast Traveler; Travel & Leisure; Departures; Allure; Aishti, the glossy from Bierut; concierge travel directors from Quintessentially, The Metropolitan Opera and the Smithsonian. Our guests also included the famous Fischers, of Fischer Travel.
Media: we placed features in Urban Daddy; Delta Sky; Wine Enthusiast and Afar magazine, and an Access Hollywood feature airing to 3 million people and the writer’s 1.4 million twitter followers. Spafinders, the industry leader, named Castadiva’s spa in the top 10 trends forecast for its pink Himalayan salt room.
Celebrity Visits: Yes, George Clooney now enjoys Castadiva. Tyra Banks is a spa and restaurant regular. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski spent wedding time at the hotel so we whispered to Us Weekly who picked up the story for their 1.9 million readers and their even larger online audience.
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE brainstorm the key media and influencers you want as your audience and design the engaging, OPERATIC strategy, content and experiences to reach them?! Let’s have a call, just reply to this message!

WHY DON’T YOU… SAY THANK YOU…
RANDOMLY? A LOT!
DESIRE.
To be seen. To be valued. We all want to be known for our unique gifts. It begins by investing in gratitude at all levels of your brand and business.
Receiving the above Thank You note from our client was a surprise, while underscoring how refreshing gratitude is for the soul!
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
Soulful solutions. Every new story placed as a seed in the world begins with gratitude. Gratitude must be built into brand strategy.
The best part is that it works both ways, whether giving it or receiving …Thanks.
Both channels are key to a brand’s social media and PR today and thankfully our agency has been creating healing brand messages way before selfies.
KPI.
As a yoga practitioner since age 16, I have three decades in wellness work. From creative direction, content and project management work with brands, experts, B2B shows, products and experiences, click to see our wellness clients here.
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE help YOU focus on your gifts, your personal branding or cause marketing as a way to give back to the world? How about enjoying creating projects in a thriving appreciative relationship that only makes it all more powerful? If you like to work this way, give me a ping and thankfully we’ll ping ya back!

WHY DON’T YOU BECOME THAT
FAMOUS AUTHOR…NOW?
DESIRE.
“Your book is your hook!” Now is the perfect time to stop wishing for fame and make your book a reality now!
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
Whether you are ready to declare your identity as a famous author like our client, Jennifer Solow, and have Terry Richardson take your picture …or you are a major brand like our client, Design Within Reach, reissuing a 1973 classic How To See, by George Nelson the famous designer, or you are a future famous new author, like our client, Emily Wolf, who tasked us with designing her branding, book cover and site, … making an impact with a book is a smart, thrilling adventure for you and your brand.
KPI.
For Jennifer Solow, we secured endorsement blurbs for her book from icons the likes of Simon Doonan and Arianne Phillips, Madonna’s stylist.
For Design Within Reach, in just 3 weeks, we made George Nelson’s book the season’s hot design book via a New York Times style section write up; placements in the LA Times; and the magazines-In Step Design; Metropolis; ID and NPR. Just in time for the holidays, the buzz led to book sales!
For new author Emily Wolf, our brand guidance and our cover design for her debut novel, My 31st Year has her over the moon!
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE work together on your BOOK? From concept to media, we love helping authors with book proposals, editing, writing, content re-purposing, design and illustrations to styling author photo shoots. See some of our book clients here and schedule a free call.

WHY DON’T YOU SPRINKLE SOME
“FENG SHUI IN TIMES SQUARE”?
DESIRE.
“Feng Shui in Times Square” is my metaphor for a game change.
Let me explain. Most people think Feng Shui means endless white walls, flowing organic, hemp drapery and a lot of pasture-raised plants. So yin, so Snoozy! The opposite of Yin, Yang energy, is equally a quality of Feng Shui. Times Square is one of the most Yang, Western-bling places on earth. Thus, we kinda love that our Feng Shui concepts and consult brings balance, supporting the designer of a new, HUGE luxury hotel in Times Square.
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
How it started: Interior Designer of high-rise penthouses for titans of industry to homes for 3-star Michelin chefs, Marie Aiello came to us to fix her website to support her intentions for her business to grow and to add a major hospitality project to her portfolio.
We gave her total brand a refresh with our 9 Star Passport method, A GPS for life utilizing ancient/future Feng Shui + Yoga secrets, plus our stellar web team.
KPI.
How it’s going: Marie’s business grew and she is now designing the hotel for Times Square’s most intriguing, massive new property, TSX Broadway.
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE design, create or refresh your brand and content with natural symmetry and even some “Feng Shui in Times Square” moves? Go for it…learn more about our brand exploration method developed over 30 years of study with masters, The 9 Star Passport. It is the first of its kind, gifting pure client-inspired vision for brand packages. websites, logos, design assets, social media images, and more. RSVP “READY” here.

WHY DON’T YOU KIBBUTZ WITH EXPERTS?
DESIRE.
Yes, I do know Kibbitz is Yiddish for chat or small talk …but when we concept and create a panel, it is more of a Kibbutz, Yiddish for a community. I love “kibbutz” as a verb. Thus, my last brand tip…kibbutz with your community!
SOLUTION: TELL A NEW STORY.
After 20 years of Feng Shui practice and the development of my 9 Star Passport method, A GPS for life utilizing ancient/future Feng Shui + Yoga secrets, I realized the day had arrived for this ancient/future trend that married wellness and interior design. I wanted to explore that idea, along with other trends and ideas with leaders in the field.
KPI.
And so I concepted and successfully pitched a talk for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, ICFF Talks, called Across Perspectives: Design Futures, with a stellar lineup of industry pros led in conversation with Suzanne Slesin, publisher and editorial director of Pointed Leaf Press. The panelists included: Scott Sanders, interior designer; Ellen Fisher, VP for academic affairs and dean at the New York School of Interior Design; Ingrid Abramovitz, features director, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Veranda; Rio Hamilton, design and fashion blogger and marketing strategist; and with us in spirit, Chad Oppenheim, principal architect at Oppenheim Architecture and myself, Jade Dressler, creative director, designer, and Feng Shui expert.
We had a full house on a Sunday morning at Javits Center and were featured in an article on the industry site, BOH, Business of Home!
CTA.
WHY DON’T WE kibbutz? Let’s brainstorm ways to expand your audience and connect with others in your field for a cross-pollination of ideas that inspire. Let’s talk!
